We are almost at the end of the first year of 2023
and we are sure you began this year with a zeal to achieve all your goals for 2023.
You made ambitious lists of resolutions; things you wanted to achieve, things you wanted to eliminate and walk the path of becoming the best version of yourself.
Have you been able to implement your resolutions and plans in this month of January? If yes, we would love to hear in the comments below and applaud the factors that kept you motivated.
If you were unable to keep your promises to yourself, here are 4 tips and strategies you can consider, and revive your plans:
4 Tips
Keep it realistic:
While pressure may motivate some, it overwhelms most of us. When we set unrealistic and unattainable goals for ourselves, without considering the very real aspects of our lives, we set ourselves up for failure. Redefine your goals and set SMART goals instead. SMART Goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely.Find an ambition buddy:
When you find someone to walk along this journey of self-development and both of you have similar goals, there is a much higher likelihood of you both excelling. For instance, if you aspire to read a book for 15 minutes every day, find someone with the same goal. This company will keep you motivated and accountable to your “Pact”.Evaluate what works and what does not work:
If in the past, you have failed at achieving a New Year’s goal, for instance, eating healthy and getting fitter, then it is time to evaluate why you are unable to achieve this goal. Is it that you do not know how to cook healthy food? Do the people around you only eat unhealthy food? Or do you believe that healthy food is bland, and since you don’t like bland food, you cannot sustain a healthy diet. Once this evaluation is done, you will have the tools to solve the problems that come in your way.Give yourself grace:
Falling down once in a while is a natural part of growing up and getting better, and it should not be the end of your journey. Don’t beat yourself up for failing or falling; find the strength within you to accept that even if you faltered today, tomorrow is a new day!
